How do you pray for 7 billion people? Is it even possible?
By name, it is impossible, but before the year is up we will have prayed for every country in the world, for it's leaders, for international troubles brewing and some already boiling over.
Today we are going to focus on some Global hot spots
1. The Middle East - Iraq is facing two wars - one with coalition forces the other a civil war to determine the leadership of that nation, Iran is going nuclear this month, so they say and are crushing all voices speaking out against the regime. There seems to be no solution to the Palestinian / Israeli tensions. Non-Muslims in these lands have few rights, and most Christians are simply trying to leave to survive.
2. Central Asia - Afghanistan, actually all the "-Stans" are are facing multiple crises between ethnic groups, fighting, dictatorships, regime collapses, etc…
3. The growth of China as a dominant Asian force
4. International terrorism - enough said
5. Africa's zones of conflict
West Africa - greed and ethnic loyalties
Central Africa - has seen bloody genocides, civil wars in the past decade.
So how do we pray?
Pray for peace in those regions. Pray that the Christians would stand strong under incredible persecution and hardship and can remain a light on a hill and salt.
Think of Psalm 2 and pray for the leaders. Pray that they would kiss the Son, so he won't be angry.
